LTG Cargo wagon-use and storage organisation charge calculator (2026)
Author: Outturn · Published: · Last reviewed:
LTG Cargo wagon-use charge = (standing time − 24 free hours, a part-hour under 15 min not counted, 15 min or more counted as a full hour) × EUR 2.16 per LTG wagon-hour, excluding VAT. Storage organisation costs EUR 46.60 per wagon-day, counted from 24 h after the arrival notice (a part-day under 12 h not counted). A private wagon on your own siding costs nothing; on public tracks it costs EUR 0.46 per hour. Every figure comes from LTG Cargo's 2026 additional services price list and its Service provision contract general conditions; sources are at the bottom of the page.
Formula
- Billable hours = standing time − 24 h; if the remainder (minutes beyond full hours) is 15 min or more, add 1 hour, otherwise drop it.
- Wagon-use charge = billable hours × EUR 2.16 × number of wagons (LTG Cargo inventory or reserve wagon).
- Private wagon on public tracks = billable hours × EUR 0.46 × number of wagons.
- Storage days = (hand-over time − arrival notice time) − 24 h; a remainder of 12 h or more is a full day, less is dropped.
- Storage organisation charge = storage days × EUR 46.60 × number of wagons. It is charged in addition to wagon use.

Wagon use
50 h 20 min − 24 h = 26 h 20 min; remainder 20 min ≥ 15 min → 27 h × EUR 2.16 × 1 = EUR 58.32
Storage organisation
Storage organisation
86 h − 24 h = 62 h = 2 days 14 h; remainder 14 h ≥ 12 h → 3 days × EUR 46.60 × 1 = EUR 139.80

When the clock starts and stops
- Arrival notice. The carrier informs the consignee with an automatic e-mail from the e.Krovinys system (General Conditions point 3.3).
- Start when wagons are placed. If the carrier's locomotive places the wagons on the siding, LTG wagon-use time counts from placement, after the free time (point 7.2.1.1).
- Start when wagons cannot be placed. If, after the notice, the wagons cannot be delivered to the loading front through no fault of the carrier, the charge starts 24 h after the notice (price list point 15).
- Stop: two events. Time runs until the client reports in e.Krovinys that cargo operations are finished and hands over properly completed transport documents (point 7.2.1.1). Documents later: the clock keeps running (point 7.2.8).
- Who signs. The time is recorded in the wagon delivery and removal sheet and the general act, signed by the carrier and the client or sub-client (point 7.5).
- Time not counted. No wagon-use charge while LTG Cargo itself performs loading, unloading, transhipment or customs procedures, except during state inspections or when customs documents are missing (price list point 19).
- Empty wagons placed early. If an empty LTG wagon is placed more than 16 h before the ordered time, the charge starts 8 h after the ordered time (price list point 16).
Worked examples
All examples are synthetic: the times are made up, the amounts are computed with the 2026 rates excluding VAT.
Example 1. LTG wagon, everything on time
Wagon placed 2026-03-02 08:00; "operations finished" marked and documents handed over 2026-03-04 10:20. It stood 50 h 20 min − 24 h = 26 h 20 min. The remainder of 20 min is ≥ 15 min, so 27 h × EUR 2.16 = EUR 58.32.
Example 2. Documents late (a train of 54 wagons)
Placed 2026-03-02 08:00, operations finished 2026-03-03 06:10 (22 h 10 min – that would be EUR 0), but the documents were handed over only at 11:40. The clock stops at the later event: 27 h 40 min − 24 h = 3 h 40 min → 4 h × EUR 2.16 = EUR 8.64 per wagon; × 54 wagons = EUR 466.56. The whole amount comes from the 5 h 30 min document delay.
Example 3. The 15-minute threshold
Standing 30 h 14 min: 6 h 14 min above the free time → 6 h × EUR 2.16 = EUR 12.96. Standing 30 h 15 min: → 7 h × EUR 2.16 = EUR 15.12. One minute changes the amount by EUR 2.16 per wagon.
Example 4. Private wagon
A private wagon stands 100 h on your own siding: EUR 0 (point 7.2.9). The same wagon is held 40 h in the Pauostis yard of Klaipėda station: 40 − 24 = 16 h × EUR 0.46 = EUR 7.36.
Example 5. Storage organisation
Arrival notice 2026-03-02 09:00; the consignee does not accept the wagons at its loading front, they are handed over 2026-03-05 23:00. 86 h − 24 h = 62 h = 2 days 14 h; the remainder of 14 h is ≥ 12 h → 3 days × EUR 46.60 = EUR 139.80 per wagon. For an LTG wagon the wagon-use charge is added (point 40), starting 24 h after the notice (point 15): 62 h × EUR 2.16 = EUR 133.92.
Private and leased wagons
The EUR 2.16 rate applies only to inventory and LTG Cargo reserve wagons (price list Table 1). No fees are charged for wagons not owned by the carrier on the client's own siding (General Conditions point 7.2.9). When a private wagon cannot be delivered to the siding, is held at the station through no fault of the carrier, or stands in the Anglinė or Pauostis yards of Klaipėda station, the rate is EUR 0.46 per vehicle-hour (points 20-21) with the 24-hour and 15-minute rules (point 22). Check the owner of every wagon on the invoice: a private wagon billed at EUR 2.16 is a clear error.
Storage organisation
EUR 46.60 per vehicle-day applies when the consignee does not collect the cargo within 24 h of the arrival notice and the loaded wagons stand on station tracks until they are handed over to the client (price list point 38.1). It is also charged when wagons are held at the departure or an intermediate station through no fault of the carrier (38.2), when the contract of carriage is changed (38.3) and when the consignee cannot be notified (38.4). Days are rounded: under 12 h not counted, 12 h or more is a full day (point 39). This charge comes on top of the wagon-use charge (point 40).
How to check an LTG Cargo invoice: checklist
- Take the LTG Cargo e-invoice and its annex with the wagon list and hours.
- For each wagon note the number and the owner: LTG (inventory or reserve) or private.
- A private wagon on your own siding must be EUR 0 (point 7.2.9); on public tracks EUR 0.46 per hour.
- Find the arrival notice time (e.Krovinys e-mail).
- Find the placement time on the siding (wagon delivery and removal sheet).
- Find the "operations finished" mark in e.Krovinys.
- Find the time proper transport documents were handed over.
- The clock stops at the later of the times in steps 6 and 7.
- Subtract 24 h, apply the 15-minute rule and multiply by EUR 2.16.
- Take out time when LTG Cargo itself performed cargo operations or customs procedures (point 19 exception).
- For empty wagons, check whether they were placed more than 16 h early (point 16).
- For storage organisation: from notice + 24 h to hand-over, the 12-hour rule, EUR 46.60 per day.
- Compare with the invoice; write down every difference with the wagon number, the times and the point.
- Check your own contract with LTG Cargo: an individual contract may say otherwise.
What this calculator does not do
- It works on the times you type in; it does not see e.Krovinys or invoice data.
- Times are entered in one time zone. If the period spans a daylight-saving change (last Sunday of March or October), add or subtract one hour.
- Other carriers (LDz Cargo, Operail, PKP Cargo) use different rules; they are not computed here.
- Point numbers were checked on 2026-10-07 against text extracted automatically from the official PDFs. Check them against your own contract edition before a formal dispute.

Frequently asked questions
- How much is an LTG Cargo wagon-hour in 2026?
- EUR 2.16 excluding VAT per hour of an inventory or LTG Cargo reserve wagon (additional services price list PP-LTG Cargo, Table 1, point 9). The price list is effective from 2026-01-01; all its prices exclude VAT (point 6).
- How many hours can a wagon stand free of charge?
- At the station where the cargo is loaded, unloaded or transhipped, 24 wagon-use hours are free (price list point 11). The charge applies only to the time after those 24 hours.
- How are part-hours rounded?
- Each part-hour: under 15 minutes is not counted, 15 minutes (inclusive) or more is rounded up to a full hour (price list point 10). For example, 6 h 14 min above the free time is 6 hours; 6 h 15 min is 7 hours.
- Is there a charge for a private or leased wagon?
- No fees are charged for wagons not owned by the carrier standing on the client's own siding (General Conditions point 7.2.9). A private wagon standing on public railway infrastructure tracks, for example in the Anglinė or Pauostis yards of Klaipėda station, is charged EUR 0.46 per hour (price list points 20-21) with the same 24-hour and 15-minute rules (point 22).
- When does the wagon-use clock stop?
- When the client reports in the e.Krovinys system that cargo operations are finished and hands proper transport documents to the carrier (General Conditions point 7.2.1.1). If the documents come later, the time keeps running until they are handed over (point 7.2.8).
- Is storage organisation charged on top of wagon use?
- Yes. In addition to the storage organisation charge (EUR 46.60 per wagon-day), the wagon-use charge or the private-wagon public-track charge is also calculated (price list points 37 and 40).
- Does this calculator check my invoice?
- No. It computes the amount for one wagon, or a group of wagons with the same times, from the times you type in. Outturn checks a whole invoice line by line for free: send the invoices and your wagon times through the free check page.
