Rail statement audit for terminals: LTG wagon-use and storage charges
Last reviewed:
Send us up to three months of your rail carrier's wagon-use and storage statements and your own wagon movement records. Within 5 working days you get a written report of every wagon-hour and wagon-day where the statement differs from your own data and the published tariff, with the source rows from both sides.
For rail-connected dry-bulk, agri and general-cargo terminals and stevedores that use LTG Cargo in Lithuania. Another carrier's published rate (for example LDz Cargo in Latvia) is added as a sourced rule on request.
Why statements are worth checking
The carrier bills wagon use from its own clock. Your rail desk has its own times: when the wagon arrived, was placed, was released, was notified for removal. If the two disagree — a wagon released at 06:10 but removed at 14:00, a free-time start counted from the wrong event, a storage day charged twice — the difference is billed to you unless someone recomputes it. Recomputing every wagon, every month, by hand is slow work.
What we check
| Check | What is recomputed | Tariff basis |
|---|---|---|
| RAIL-01 Wagon-hour recompute | Chargeable hours per carrier-owned wagon from your own events vs hours on the statement | LTG Cargo 2026: €2.16 per wagon-hour after 24 free hours |
| RAIL-02 Clock-stop gap | Time after you released/notified a wagon that the carrier still charged | Carrier general conditions |
| RAIL-07 Storage-organisation days | Wagon-days charged for storage organisation vs days your records support | LTG Cargo 2026: €46.60 per wagon-day |
| RAIL-06 Freight mass (optional) | Billable mass per wagon = waybill mass rounded to the whole tonne (500 kg and above rounds up, below 500 kg is dropped), minimum 45 t unless stated otherwise, vs tonnes billed | LTG Cargo tariff book, from 2026-06-30 |
Tariffs are versioned rules with their source and effective date. LTG Cargo is the carrier covered today; any other carrier needs its published rate added as a sourced rule first.
Example
Example — synthetic data, invented for illustration. Not a customer result. (Tariff figure is real and sourced.)
Wagon 59214088: the statement bills 15 h of wagon use over free time; your wagon export events give 12 h. Difference 3 h × €2.16 = €6.48. One wagon is small — the report lists every such line across three months, totals them, and shows the source rows so you can decide which are worth disputing.
How much it can be for you depends on your volume — roughly: carrier-owned wagons per month × average disputed hours × €2.16. If most wagons are your own or on your own siding, the amount may be small, and we will say so.
How it works (5 working days)
| Step | What happens | Who |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | You upload the statements and your wagon movement records on the free check page (PDF/Excel/CSV as you have them) and accept the terms. | You |
| 2 | You get a confirmation e-mail at once; if something is missing we say exactly what. | Outturn |
| 3 | We load the files read-only, map the columns and match wagons across both sources; the rules run and each difference is reviewed for obvious data issues. | Outturn |
| 4 | Within 5 working days of complete files you receive the written report by e-mail: lines, amounts, evidence, what to look at first. | Outturn |
Everything is done in writing, with no obligation. After the check you can stop, or keep the same checks running every month on your own data in Outturn.
What we need from you
- Carrier statements for wagon use and storage, last 3 months (as received).
- Your wagon movement records for the same period: the carrier's wagon export, your rail desk spreadsheet, or a TOS/ERP/1C export.
- Optional: freight invoices (for RAIL-06), your contract if it changes free time.
Honest limits
- We recompute charges for carrier-owned wagons under published tariffs; private wagons on your own siding usually carry little or no such charge.
- A difference is a review item, not proof of a carrier error — the contract or a carrier event we don't see can explain it; the evidence lets you check quickly.
- We do not contact or dispute with the carrier for you.
- Only tariffs we have as sourced, versioned rules are used; we never assume a rate.

Frequently asked questions
- What exactly do you check?
- For each carrier-owned wagon on your rail carrier's statements for the last three months, we recompute the chargeable wagon-hours from your own arrival, placement, release and removal records and the published tariff, and compare them line by line with what was billed. We also check storage-organisation days and, if you add the freight invoice, the billed freight mass.
- What do I need to send?
- Three months of the carrier's wagon-use / storage statements (PDF or Excel as you receive them) and your own wagon movement records for the same period (the carrier's wagon export, your rail desk spreadsheet, or a TOS/ERP/1C export). Optionally the freight invoices.
- What do I get after 5 working days?
- A report listing every wagon and charge line where the statement differs from your own records, with the hours or days, the tariff clause, the amount, and the source rows from both documents — ready for a dispute if you decide to raise one. Lines that match are summarised, not hidden.
- Which tariffs are covered?
- The LTG Cargo additional-services price list (2026): wagon use EUR 2.16 per wagon-hour after 24 free hours for carrier-owned wagons, and storage organisation EUR 46.60 per wagon-day. Other carriers, for example LDz Cargo in Latvia, are not covered today: another carrier's published rate is added as a versioned, sourced rule only after we confirm it with you, and we never assume a rate.
- Is it worth it for us?
- It depends on how many carrier-owned wagons you receive and how long they stay. With your own wagons on your own siding there may be little to recover. We tell you that honestly after a first look at one month of data.
- Do you contact the carrier?
- No. We give you the evidence; you decide whether to dispute. Outturn never sends anything outside your company without a named person's approval.
- What happens to our files?
- They are stored encrypted in the EU, used only for the check, and deleted 30 days after the report at the latest. Please send exports without personal data where possible: wagon numbers and times are enough.
